Charging the GWM ORA 03: Time, Connector and Tips
The short answer
The GWM ORA 03 has a 48 kWh battery and accepts up to 67 kW in direct current, so a 60 kW DC charging station already delivers almost the maximum it supports. On that type of charger, a charge from 10% to 80% takes about 33 minutes, using the CCS2 connector, the standard at most charging stations in Brazil.
The GWM ORA 03 is the compact electric car with retro design that became a favorite on the streets of Curitiba. But how does charging work day to day? How long does it take? How much does it cost? In this guide, we answer every question about charging the ORA 03.
GWM ORA 03 battery specifications
The GWM ORA 03 (previously called the Good Cat in other markets) arrived in Brazil with an interesting proposition: distinctive design, competitive price and modern charging technology. Here are the numbers:
- Battery capacity: 48 kWh (usable)
- Type: LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate)
- WLTP range: up to 340 km
- Real range (city): 280–310 km
- Real range (highway): 230–270 km
- Connector: CCS2
- Maximum DC power: 67 kW
- Maximum AC power: 6.6 kW (single-phase)
The ORA 03 sits between the Dolphin and the Yuan Plus in terms of battery, with an intermediate capacity of 48 kWh. Its acceptance of up to 67 kW on DC means it takes advantage of almost all the power of a 60 kW charging station.
Charging time: from slow to fast
| Method | Real power | 10% → 80% | 0% → 100% |
|---|---|---|---|
| 220V/10A outlet | 2.2 kW | ~15 hours | ~22 hours |
| 7 kW wallbox | 6.6 kW | ~5 hours | ~7h15 |
| 60 kW DC charging station | 60 kW | ~33 min | ~58 min |
| 67+ kW DC charging station | 67 kW | ~30 min | ~52 min |
Note: the ORA 03 accepts at most 6.6 kW on AC, so connecting it to a 7 kW wallbox or a 22 kW AC charging station does not change the charging time — the limiting factor is the vehicle's onboard charger.
On a 60 kW DC charging station, the ORA 03 recovers approximately 200 km of range in just 30 minutes — enough time for a quick lunch or a leisurely coffee.
ORA 03 charging cost
For a charge from 10% to 80% (approximately 33.6 kWh) in Curitiba and the region, April 2026:
Cost simulation — GWM ORA 03
Home (standard rate R$ 0.75/kWh): R$ 25.20
Home (overnight rate R$ 0.50/kWh): R$ 16.80
Public AC charging station (R$ 1.20/kWh): R$ 40.32
Fast DC charging station (R$ 1.80/kWh): R$ 60.48
Comparison: a gasoline car with fuel economy of 12 km/l would spend ~R$ 140 to cover the same 250 km that the DC charge provides.
The ORA 03 and the CCS2 connector
The GWM ORA 03 uses the CCS2 connector, the dominant standard in the Brazilian market. That means compatibility with the vast majority of charging stations installed in Brazil, including networks like Tupinambá, Zletric, Shell Recharge and independent stations like Elektro Charge.
The CCS2 connector is located on the ORA 03's rear left fender. For AC charging, simply connect using the upper part of the connector. For fast DC, the charging station's cable plugs in using the full connector (combined AC + DC).
A practical tip: when parking at the charging station, position the car with the left side facing the charger. This makes handling the cable easier and avoids stretching it more than necessary.
The ORA 03's charging curve
The ORA 03 has a DC charging curve considered good for its category:
- 5% to 30%: power rises quickly to ~65 kW
- 30% to 55%: holds ~60-65 kW — the most efficient range
- 55% to 75%: gradual reduction to ~45-55 kW
- 75% to 85%: drop to ~30-35 kW
- 85% to 100%: sharp reduction, ~15-20 kW
In practice, the ORA 03 holds good power up to around 55%, making the 10% to 80% window quite efficient at fast charging stations.
Battery life: what to expect
The ORA 03's LFP battery is designed for longevity. Some important points:
- Warranty: 8 years or 150,000 km (whichever comes first)
- Life cycles: more than 2,500 full cycles
- Expected degradation: less than 20% over 8 years of normal use
- Charging to 100%: allowed and recommended weekly to calibrate the BMS
In practical terms, if you buy an ORA 03 today and use it for 8 years with mixed charging (home + occasional fast charging station), you can expect the battery to still retain more than 80% of its original capacity. That means a car with 340 km of initial range will still have 270+ km after 8 years.
The ORA 03 in Curitiba's daily life
Curitiba is an ideal city for the ORA 03. With average urban trips of 30-50 km a day, a single full charge easily lasts a week of normal use. The city is largely flat, which favors range — without the steep climbs that consume extra battery in cities like São Paulo.
Curitiba's winter (temperatures between 5°C and 15°C) can reduce range by 10-15%, something LFP batteries manage better than NMC ones. Even so, with 240+ km of range even on the coldest days, the ORA 03 covers the vast majority of trips without needing to recharge.
For anyone who needs occasional fast charging in Pinhais or the metropolitan area, Elektro Charge is a strategic stop. With 60 kW of power on Av. Maringá and 24-hour operation, it offers a charging session perfectly synced with the time of a meal at the surrounding restaurants.
With the ORA 03, charging isn't an obligation — it's an opportunity. Plug in at Elektro Charge, order a dish at the restaurant next door, and come back to a car with a renewed battery.
Practical tips for ORA 03 owners
- Install a 7 kW wallbox: the ORA 03 uses 6.6 kW, so a 7 kW wallbox delivers the maximum at an affordable cost
- Overnight charging schedule: use the car's timer to start charging during off-peak hours
- Preheating in winter: turn on the climate control while still plugged in so you don't drain the battery
- Essential apps: Tupinambá and PlugShare to find charging stations; the GWM app to monitor the charge remotely
- Tire pressure: correctly inflated tires can add 10-15 km of real range
Does the ORA 03 need fast charging?
60 kW DC, CCS2, 24h on Av. Maringá in Pinhais. From 10% to 80% in 33 minutes — the time of a lunch.

Can the GWM ORA 03 charge to 100%?
It can. The ORA 03's LFP battery allows charging to 100%, and it is advisable to do so weekly to calibrate the BMS. The battery warranty is 8 years or 150,000 km, whichever comes first, and the expected degradation is less than 20% over 8 years of normal use.
Does a 22 kW AC charger speed up the ORA 03's charge?
No. The ORA 03 accepts at most 6.6 kW on AC, so a 7 kW wallbox or a 22 kW AC charging station give the same time. At home, from 10% to 80% it takes about 5 hours, and from 0% to 100%, about 7h15.
Where is the ORA 03's charging port?
On the rear left fender. When parking at the charging station, position the car with the left side facing the charger, to make the cable easier to handle. The connector is the CCS2: the upper part is for AC and the full connector for fast DC.
What is the ORA 03's real range?
The WLTP range is up to 340 km, with 280 to 310 km in the city and 230 to 270 km on the highway. Curitiba's winter can reduce it by 10% to 15%, and there are still more than 240 km of range on the coldest days.
What is the ORA 03's DC charging curve like?
The car holds about 60 to 65 kW between 30% and 55%, drops to 45 to 55 kW up to 75% and stays at 15 to 20 kW after 85%. That is why the 10% to 80% window is the most efficient at a fast charging station.
